In part two of the Games Britannia series, Woolley looks at
popular games in Britain from the Iron Age to the Information Age. Woolley
looks at the impact of board games over the last 200 years and how Britain
built a board game for moral instruction was exported to America where it was
adapted to the American Dream and economic success.
This lead to great board games being created such as the
best-selling game, Monopoly. Woolley then investigates some of Britain’s
favourite family games which many evolved after the war from British Games.
Woolley also looks at more recent examples like Dungeons and Dragons, which was
created in America and discovers that Britain continue to make political board
games like War on Terror but most British game designers have moved on to the
computer games industry.
